MORNING STAR FILM PROJECT

Morning Star Conservancy is currently working on a documentary film to educate the public about the history of Lophophora williamsii's relationship with people. The film will also address the need for conservation and sustainability by presenting potential solutions to the threats Peyote is facing today.

Due to the accelerated rate in which plant species are diminishing during the last 20 years, the Thornscrub Sanctuary Project was created by Joe Santore. It is our mission to save these alarming number of rare species occurring in this habitat. Therefore, land acquisition for conservation is urgent and requires good stewardship practices and management.

  • Acquisition of land for restoration and conservation of threatened and endangered species.
  • Removal of invasive species to restore the native habitat.
  • Propagation of a diversity of endangered and threatened species through seed production and seedling transplantation to its native habitat. Some of these species included are: Astrophytum asterias, Manihot walkerae and Asclepias prostrata.
